Eimeo Beach Mackay is a 0.5 km sheltered bay about 15 minutes north of town, with seasonal Eimeo Beach swimming at high tide, Eimeo Beach facilities on the esplanade and the Eimeo Hotel on the point above. Come for a flagged family swim when patrols are on, then walk up for the view. It is not a long surf beach and it is not Bucasia.

🏊 Swimming — High tide only in the bay. Seasonal flags. No stinger nets.
🧺 Picnic — Shade, tables and barbecues on the esplanade.
🛝 Playground — Softfall play for ages 2 to 9 beside the sand.
🏨 Eimeo Hotel — The Pacific Hotel on the point. Food and the view.
🎣 Fishing — Shore and rocks. Watch the tide and the creek mouth.
📷 Photos — The bay, Mango Avenue and sunset off the point.
🏄 Surf look — Only when Eimeo Point actually has swell. Most days it does not.

🏊Eimeo Beach Swimming

🌊The bay is low energy and family-used at high tide. Beachsafe rates it 1/10. At low tide you are on a wide flat, not in a swim.
🚩 Seasonal patrols — Eimeo SLSC. Weekends, school holidays and public holidays from the September school holidays to May Day.
🪼 Stingers November to May — No nets. Full-body suit if you enter the water. The club has closed the beach after box jellyfish.
🐊 Be Crocwise — Mangrove creek at the eastern end. Do not treat that mouth as a swim.
🌊 High tide only — Official Beachsafe advice. Do not force a low-tide swim.
🏊 Stinger-free fallback — Bluewater Lagoon, 32 River Street, Mackay, about 15 minutes back toward town.

🐶 Dog-Friendly Rules at Eimeo Beach

🦮 On-leash only — Beach and esplanade. No signed off-leash sand here.
🌳 Off-leash park — Camilleri Street Park, west section. Fenced park, not the beach.
🗑️ Pick up — Mackay Regional Council rules apply.
🐕 Off-leash sand — Bucasia Beach, Williams Avenue to Symons Avenue, 5am to 8am and 5pm to 8pm only.

🏄Surfing Eimeo Point

🏄 Wave Type — Sheltered point at Eimeo Point, also called Rockies. Short right over rock. The main bay is not a surf beach.
🌊 Best Conditions — East swell, mid to high tide, west-southwest offshore. Cyclone-season pulses are when it is most likely to work.
🧘 Crowd Level — Almost empty. It rarely breaks.
🎯 Ideal For — Locals checking a rare day. Longboard or small-wave boards only. Not a Gold Coast point.
🛡️ Protection — The reef and islands kill most swell. That is why this is a 1-rated, rarely-breaking spot.
⚠️ Safety — Rocks. Stingers in season. Creek and crocs at the spit. Do not treat a flat high-tide family bay as a surf session.

💡 Check Beachsafe and Eimeo SLSC for flags and closures.

⏰ Time the tide — High tide for a swim. Low tide is a walk on the flat.
🚩 Flags first — If there are no flags, treat it as unpatrolled.
🏨 Hotel is the landmark — Use it for the view, not as a beach facility block.
🐬 Wildlife — Dolphins in the bay on quiet days. Humpbacks offshore June to November.
🚫 No free camping — No sand stays here. Nearest beachfront park is Bucasia.
