Use it for long walks, high-tide swims, shore fishing and an easy family day — then stay on the sand rather than driving back into Mackay.

🚶 Beach Walks — Stretch out on one of Mackay’s longest soft-sand beaches (approx. 4 km) with views to Dolphin Heads and the Cumberland Islands. 🎣 Fishing — Popular shore fishing, especially at high tide for flathead; the southern end near Eimeo Creek and the boat ramp is a favourite spot.
🧺 Picnics & BBQs — Seaview Park has shaded tables, barbecues and open grass perfect for family gatherings.
🛝 Playground — Well-equipped children’s playground right beside the beach at Seaview Park.
🐕 Dog-Friendly Strolls — Designated time-restricted off-leash zone (Williams Ave to Symons Ave) plus long on-leash beach walks.

🚩 Unpatrolled — No regular flags. Swim only in good conditions.
🪼 Stingers November to May — No nets.
🌊 High tide only — Low tide is a long flat, not a swim.
🐊 Be Crocwise — Stay out of Eimeo Creek and the southern mangroves.
🏖️ Eimeo Beach — About 4 km. Nearest ocean swim people actually use. Flagged weekends, school holidays and public holidays from September school holidays to May Day. Still has stingers November to May.
🏊 Bluewater Lagoon — 32 River Street, Mackay, about 15 minutes back toward town. Free, fenced, lifeguarded and stinger-free. Open 9am to 6pm September to March and 9am to 5pm in the cooler months. Closed July to August for maintenance.

🐕 Off-leash zone — Williams Avenue to Symons Avenue only.
⏰ Off-leash hours — 5am to 8am and 5pm to 8pm daily.
🦮 All other times and stretches — On-leash. This is not a 24-hour dog beach.
🌳 Seaview Park — Main access, toilets, BBQs and playground beside the signed dog section.
🗑️ Pick up — Mackay Regional Council rules apply.
⚠️ Turtles — Keep dogs off dunes and away from any nesting activity in the warmer months.

🚫 No free beach camping — Overnight stays on the sand are not permitted.
🚐 Bucasia Beachfront Caravan Park — The only Bucasia Beach camping on the sand, at 2 Bucasia Esplanade. Powered sites with concrete slabs.
🐕 Pets — Pet-friendly by enquiry. Confirm current park rules before you book.
🏊 Park facilities — Heated pool, camp kitchen, laundry and amenities.
🚤 Boat ramp — Trailer parking and the public ramp sit immediately beside the park.

🐢 Flatback turtles — Bucasia is a known Mackay-region nesting beach in the warmer months.
🌙 Nights on the dunes — Stay off the nesting zone, keep lights low and follow any posted signs.
🐬 Wildlife — Dolphins and sea eagles are seen along the open sand.
🐊 Be Crocwise — Eimeo Creek, mangroves and the southern estuary.
🐦 Shorebirds — The southern sandbanks and creek mouth are roost habitat. Give birds space.

☕ Food nearby — Beachfront Bar and Restaurant at 35 Bucasia Esplanade. Local shops a short drive, not on the sand.
🚿 Not on this beach — No stinger nets and no regular lifeguard service.

☀️ May to October — Drier, milder days and the better walk and swim window.
🪼 November to May — Marine stingers present. No nets.
🌡️ Year-round — Hot humid summers and warm winters. Tide still decides the swim.

🚗 Drive — About 15 km north of Mackay CBD via Mackay-Bucasia Road. Allow 15 to 20 minutes.
📍 Beach access — Bucasia Esplanade, Waverley Street and Williams Avenue.
🚌 Bus — Mackay Transit Coaches route 308 runs the Northern Beaches corridor to Shoal Point and stops on Bucasia Esplanade.
🅿️ Parking — Free along Bucasia Esplanade, beside Seaview Park and near the caravan park. Read any time-limit signs.
💡 Check Mackay Regional Council and Beachsafe before you swim.

🌅 Go early or late — Off-leash hours and sunrise walks are the quietest window on this 4 km beach.
🌊 Swim on the high tide — Low tide leaves a long flat and is a walk, not a swim.

🐢 Stay off the dunes at night in the warmer months.
