πŸ„ Surfing at Nobby’s Beach

Nobby’s Beach (also called Nobby Head or North Burleigh) is a punchy Gold Coast beachbreak β€” delivering fast, hollow peaks and A-frames over shifting sand, often with more power than the central stretches thanks to its position near Burleigh Headland. It catches southeast groundswells consistently, producing barrels on bigger days (especially near the headland end) and fun, rippable waves across the stretch. A local go-to for shortboarders and bodyboarders seeking rawer sessions than touristy Surfers β€” less crowded in early mornings, with scenic views back toward the high-rises.

Ideal for:

  • Intermediate to advanced surfers on punchy, hollow beachbreak peaks
  • Shortboarders chasing fast sections and occasional tubes (waist-to-overhead+)
  • Quality, less-crowded sessions when southern points are packed
  • Combining surf with headland walks, nearby Burleigh cafes, and northern access

Always check strong rips, sharks (frequent area), heavy shorebreak on big days, and jellyfish. Works across tides but low-to-mid often shapes up best for hollower sections. Not heavily patrolled everywhere; best for progressing surfers due to power and hazards!
