🏄♂️ Surfing at Rainbow Bay Beach
This beach forms part of the famous Gold Coast Superbank, one of the world’s longest and most consistent right-hand point breaks. When the banks Rainbow Bay is a classic Gold Coast right-hand point — a fast, fun, and slightly more forgiving peel that starts at the southern end of Coolangatta Beach and runs toward Greenmount. It picks up southeast groundswells consistently, offering long, walling rights with occasional barrels and plenty of carve space, especially at mid-to-high tide. Less intense than Snapper but still high-quality, it’s popular with longboarders, intermediates, and locals looking for a more cruisy session while still getting proper waves — beautiful outlook over Rainbow Bay and Snapper.
Ideal for:
- Intermediate to advanced surfers on fast, walling right-hand point waves
- Longboarders and shortboarders chasing long rides and carving sections
- Quality, fun sessions on southeast swells (waist-to-head high ideal)
- Combining surf with a less crowded point vibe and stunning Coolangatta views

Always check rocks at the takeoff zone, rips near the point, sharks, and crowds (especially when Snapper is firing). Mid-to-high tide often best for shape and length. Not beginner-friendly; respect locals and lineup etiquette on better days!
