🚌 Public Transport: TransLink bus routes 700 and 765 run frequently along the Gold Coast Highway, connecting Palm Beach with Burleigh Heads, Currumbin, and Coolangatta.

Is Palm Beach patrolled?
Yes. Palm Beach is patrolled by two surf life saving clubs (Palm Beach SLSC and Pacific SLSC). Lifeguards operate at Tower 14 (near Palm Beach SLSC) and Tower 15 (near Pacific SLSC), typically 8am–5pm from November to April and during school holidays. Always swim between the red and yellow flags.
Is Palm Beach good for swimming and surfing?
Yes. It is a long sandy beach with clean water and consistent beach breaks suitable for body surfing, shortboarding, longboarding and stand-up paddleboarding. It is part of the World Surfing Reserve and has an artificial reef popular with experienced surfers. Swim only in patrolled areas.
What facilities are available at Palm Beach?
Several parks along the beach offer toilets, picnic tables, beach showers and shade structures. The Palm Beach and Pacific surf clubs provide additional amenities including cafés and dining options.
Is there parking at Palm Beach?
Parking is limited at the surf clubs. On-street parking is available in the surrounding streets. Always check parking signs and time restrictions.
How do I get to Palm Beach?
Palm Beach is easily reached via the Gold Coast Highway. Translink buses run along the Esplanade, and on-street or limited club parking is available. It sits between Burleigh Heads/Tallebudgera Creek to the north and Currumbin to the south.
Are dogs allowed on Palm Beach?
Yes — Palm Beach is one of the Gold Coast’s most popular dog beaches with several excellent spots.
Main off-leash area (South Palm Beach / Currumbin Creek end): Dogs are allowed off-leash all day, every day in a large designated zone that includes:
Rockview Public Park
The calm waters of Currumbin Creek lagoon (Currumbin Creek Dog Beach)
The surf beach at South Palm Beach up to around lifeguard tower 13
This is a large, open area where dogs can swim in both the calm creek and the ocean waves.
Important rules:
Dogs must stay on-leash until you reach the signed off-leash zone.
Dogs are not allowed (even on-leash) on the southern side of the lagoon (human swimming area) or in Tarrabora Reserve.
Dogs are prohibited within 200 metres of any flagged swimming areas.
Further north along Palm Beach, dogs must be kept on a leash.
Always follow the on-site signs, keep your dog under effective control, and clean up after them.
Other nearby option: There is also an off-leash area at the northern end of Palm Beach near Tallebudgera Creek (between the creek entrance and lifeguard tower 16).
Palm Beach Parklands (next to the main dog area) has parking, toilets, showers, picnic facilities, a café (some outdoor tables are dog-friendly), and a playground.
