πŸ„ Surfing at Main Beach Southport

Main Beach is the northern Gold Coast’s spacious, sheltered beachbreak β€” a long, patrolled stretch offering small-to-moderate peaks and gentle waves, protected by the Spit jetty and South Stradbroke Island. It picks up smaller southeast swells and windswells, producing mushy but fun rides ideal for beginners and longboarders, with cleaner conditions in northerlies. Not a power spot, it’s beloved for relaxed sessions, uncrowded lineups (especially north toward the Spit), and stunning views of high-rises and the seaway β€” a true northern escape with easy access to resorts and parks.

Ideal for:

  • Beginners and families in safe, small conditions with patrolled zones
  • Longboarders groveling mellow waves on low-to-mid tide
  • Chill, uncrowded sessions away from the southern crowds
  • Combining surf with luxury resorts, beachfront walks, and northern Gold Coast calm

Always check limited swell pickup (stays small when south pumps), rips near the jetty, jellyfish, and northerly offshore winds. Heavily patrolled and super beginner-safe; perfect for relaxed vibes but paddle to The Spit for better shape!
