The Spit Gold Coast is the northern tip of Main Beach where the open Pacific meets the Broadwater, famous for its long 24-hour off-leash dog beach, the Federation Walk coastal reserve, and the iconic Seaway sand-pumping jetty. Just minutes from Sea World with free parking, picnic parks, surfing, fishing and calm Broadwater options, it is one of the most versatile and dog-friendly stretches on the entire Gold Coast.

🚊 Public transport — 🚊 G:link to Main Beach station only. There is currently no bus service and it is a very long walk to the Seaway Kiosk / northern end — the only practical way to reach the end of The Spit is by car.

Yes. The Spit offers consistent waves, especially around the sand pumping jetty and Seaway. It can produce gentle whitewash suitable for beginners closer to shore, while more experienced surfers often find better banks further along the beach. Can you swim at The Spit?
Yes. There is a patrolled swimming area near the Seaway (Tower 45). The ocean beach can have strong currents, so always swim between the flags. The calmer Broadwater side is also popular for swimming and water activities.
