Kemp Beach Yeppoon is the sealed-access bay between Rosslyn Bay and Bluff Point. Swim the wide low-tide sand, use the southern picnic ground, then climb the headland for Keppel Island views

🏖️ Things to Do at Kemp Beach

🌅 Sunrise walks — Quiet 2 km curve. Best light is early, before the highway warms up.
🥾 Headland walks — Bluff Point at the south. Double Head and Fan Rock at the north.
🐬 Wildlife — Turtles and dolphins from the lookouts on calm days.
🏊 Swim and paddle — Usually small waves. Unpatrolled. No stinger nets.
🍖 Picnic — QPWS BBQs and tables at the Bluff Point day-use area.
⛴️ Island day — Rosslyn Bay Marina at the northern end is the ferry point for Great Keppel Island. That is a drive or a walk from the north car parks, not from Bluff Point.

🥾 Bluff Point Walk Kemp Beach

The official Bluff Point walk Kemp Beach start is the signed Bluff Point section of Capricorn Coast National Park at the southern end.
🥾 Bluff Point Circuit — 2.3 km loop. Lookouts over Kemp Beach and Mulambin. Turtles and dolphins are often seen from the higher points.
🚫 No dogs on the circuit — National park track.
♿ Park toilets — Wheelchair-accessible toilets at this section. Assistance may be required.
🧭 Double Head is separate — Fan Rock and Rosslyn Bay lookouts start from the northern / marina car parks, not from this circuit.
🚫 No weddings at Bluff Point.

🐶  Dog Friendly Kemp Beach

🐕 On the sand — Dog friendly Kemp Beach means Livingstone default: on-leash, plus off-leash before 8am and after 4pm unless a sign says otherwise. 🚫 Not a named all-day zone — That is Farnborough Bangalee and Fishermans Beach Emu Park, not this bay.
🏞️ No dogs on the walks — Capricorn Coast National Park tracks are no-pets. QPWS allows dogs in the Bluff Point car park only so you can reach the beach.
🏞️ Fenced park — Olive Dorey Park at Lammermoor.

Kemp Beach facilities sit at the southern picnic end and the Bluff Point day-use area.
🚻 Toilets — Southern end, plus QPWS toilets at Bluff Point.
🍖 BBQs and tables — Gas BBQs and picnic tables at Bluff Point, short walk from the car park.
💧 Water — At the day-use area. 🚿 No surf club and no flagged patrol.
☕ No cafe on the sand — Eat at Rosslyn Bay or Yeppoon.

🏕️ Camping Near Kemp Beach Yeppoon

🏕️ No sand camping and no car-park camping. QPWS also bans camping in Capricorn Coast National Park and its car parks.
🚐 Closest paid stays — Discovery Parks Coolwaters at Kinka Beach, Blue Dolphin in Yeppoon, and other parks on the Scenic Highway.
🐶 Confirm pet rules before you book.

🗺️ Kemp Beach Parking & Getting There

🚗 From Yeppoon — About 10 minutes south on the Scenic Highway. Not Anzac Parade.
🚗 From Rockhampton — About 45 minutes via Yeppoon then south.
🚌 Bus — Young’s Bus Service between Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Emu Park. Ask for the Scenic Highway stop near Kemp, not the Yeppoon lagoon stop.
🚙 No 4WD — Vehicles stay off the sand.
⛴️ Ferry — Leaves Rosslyn Bay. Do not send island passengers to the Bluff Point car park.

💡 Local Tips

🥾 Park once — Walkers use Bluff Point. Marina and Fan Rock use the northern bays.
☕ Coffee after the sand — Beaches Restaurant, The Waterline and Keppel Bay Marina Cafe sit at Rosslyn Bay, not on the dune.
🚫 Do not take the dog up the circuit — That is the fastest way to get fined and to lose the beach access.
⏰ Last ferry is not a Kemp problem — If you walk to Long Beach on Great Keppel, that clock starts at the marina, not here.
