🏝️Why Visit Black Island Whitsundays?

Black Island is a day-use stop for a white-sand beach and fringing reef, not a resort island. Most visitors arrive by charter or sailing boat from Airlie Beach, Shute Harbour or Hayman Island, snorkel at high tide, then leave the same day.

🏖️Things to Do on a Black Island Day Trip

🤿 Black Island snorkelling — Step off the sand at high tide onto fringing reef. Fish, clams and turtles are the usual sighting.
🏖️ Black Island beach — One short white-sand strip for a swim and picnic. No shops and no shade structures.
📸 Photos — Turquoise water against the green hill. Best from the beach and the boat on approach.
⛵ Island hop — Same run often includes Hayman Island or Langford Island. Do not treat Whitehaven as a guaranteed add-on on this short hop.

🚤 Whitehaven Ocean Rafting

Fast raft to Hill Inlet and Whitehaven Beach, with snorkel stops at Hook and Border Island. Lunch included.

🚤 Whitehaven eco-cruise

Full-day boat to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, with a Hook Island snorkel and buffet lunch.

🐢 Sea Turtles: Regularly seen while snorkelling just offshore.
🐠 Reef Life: Colourful coral, tropical fish, giant clams and occasional rays.
🐦 Birdlife: Common along the shoreline and forest edge.
🛡️ Protection: Part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and Marine National Park Green Zone.
