Sheltered by the Seaway and South Stradbroke, it excels in summer northerlies (offshore/clean conditions when most of the coast is blown out), picking up mellowed northeast swells and windswells for beginner-to-intermediate wedges. Easy park-and-paddle access makes it a savior spot — uncrowded compared to south, with scenic Broadwater views.

🚗 Driving: The Spit is located at the northern end of Main Beach, around 10 minutes north of Surfers Paradise and 40 minutes south of Brisbane via the Gold Coast Highway and Seaworld Drive. Follow signs for The Spit Gold Coast or Federation Walk Coastal Reserve to reach the main car parks near the Seaway and Doug Jennings Park.
🚌 Public Transport: TransLink bus route 705 travels along Seaworld Drive, connecting The Spit with Surfers Paradise and Southport. At the time of writing there is a petition to extent the bus service to the far end of the spit to include the dog friendly section of the beach.
🅿️ Parking: Free parking is available at Doug Jennings Park, The Spit Boat Ramp, and near Seaworld, with additional spaces along Seaworld Drive.
