🤿Snorkelling Great Keppel Island is a beach entry, not a pontoon product. Put the gear on at Shelving Beach first. Move to Monkey Beach if the water is clear and you want turtles.

🐢 Monkey Beach — Turtles, rays and fish. Stay outside the reef protection markers.
🪸 Clam Bay — Sheltered bommies for a longer session.
🚫 No anchor — Monkey Beach Reef and Big Peninsula are marked no-anchor zones. Do not stand on coral.

🥾These are island tracks, not QPWS boardwalks. Carry water. Tell someone your route. Tracks fade and are rough in thongs.
👀 Lookout Trail — About one hour return from Fishermans Beach. Mainland and Keppel Bay views.
🏖️ Long Beach track — Twenty-five to 30 minutes from the village. The payoff is the long empty sand.
🐢 Monkey Beach track — Thirty to 35 minutes. Combine with a snorkel if the tide is right.
🌲 Butterfish Bay and Svendsens — Longer, hotter walks. Start early.
🗼 Lighthouse and Mount Wyndham — Full-day walks.
Great Keppel Island camping
⛺ Great Keppel Island camping is private, not a QPWS camp. Great Keppel Island Holiday Village sits in the trees near Fishermans Beach with a communal kitchen, laundry, toilets, showers and BBQs.
🌙Some stays have a minimum night rule, so confirm when you book.
🤫Svendsens is the quieter far-side option and is reached on foot or by boat. Pack what you need. There is no supermarket on the island.
🐶 Dog Friendly Rules
🐕 Allowed on the island — Great Keppel Island is not a national park. Livingstone rules apply: on-leash on the sand, plus off-leash before 8am and after 4pm unless a sign says otherwise.
⛴️ The limiter is the ferry — Ask Keppel Konnections or Freedom Fast Cats before you pay. A yes on the island means nothing if the boat will not take the dog.
🚫 Other Keppel islands — Dogs are not allowed on the Keppel Bay Islands National Park camps. Do not take a dog to Humpy, North Keppel or Middle Island.
