Woodgate Beach Bundaberg is a quiet 16 km stretch of white sand protected by K’gari, with calm water, two official off-leash stretches, legal beach driving at the southern end, and camping in town or in the national park.

🚫 National park: No dogs on the boardwalk, park tracks or NP camps.

🚙 Legal beach — Woodgate Beach 4WD is south from the southern-most access toward the Burrum River only
🚫 No permit on the sand — Queensland road rules still apply
🌲 Park is separate — Burrum Point and Kinkuna are national park, high-clearance 4WD, QPWS rules
⚠️ Hard sand only — Low tide. No dunes. No AWD as a plan

🏕️ No free sand camping — Do not camp on the township beach or at the 4WD ramps
🏨 NRMA Holiday Park — Esplanade sites, cabins and safari tents. Pets only by park rules
🌲 Burrum Point — QPWS camp, toilets and showers, tent and camper trailer. High-clearance 4WD and a permit
📍 Access — Walkers Point Road or the beach access at Twelfth Avenue. Not a 2WD job
🚫 No pets in the park — National park camps do not take dogs
🌿 Kinkuna — Separate QPWS zone behind the dunes. Same rules: permit, 4WD, no dogs

💦Theodolite Creek

🛶 Kayak and SUP — Calm northern water, the best paddle at Woodgate
🎣 Fishing — Creek and mouth for whiting and flathead. Wear shoes, stonefish in the creeks
🐕 North off-leash — From the last house / north of the boat ramp through to the creek. Mid-township sand stays on-leash
🅿️ Parking — Small car park on Theodolite Creek Drive where the road bends near the beach
🌲 Boardwalk — Banksia track is next door. That is national park. No dogs
⚠️ Tide — Best in the creek on a making tide. Do not treat it as a patrolled swim.

🗺️ Getting There

🚗 Driving: Woodgate Beach is located about 45 minutes south of Bundaberg CBD via Goodwood Road and Woodgate Road, which winds through sugarcane country and state forest before reaching the coast. From the town entrance, follow Esplanade Road to the foreshore and main beach area.
📍 From Childers — About 30 minutes east via Goodwood and Woodgate Roads. Sealed all the way.
🚍 Public Transport: There are no regular public bus services to Woodgate. The easiest way to reach the area is by car or campervan.
🅿️ Parking: Free parking is available all along The Esplanade, with shaded bays near picnic areas, the caravan park, and the Woodgate Beach Hotel.
