Suttons Beach is the patrolled family beach on the Redcliffe Peninsula, about 40 minutes from Brisbane, with a fenced playground, grassy parks and free Suttons Beach parking off Marine Parade. Calm Moreton Bay water, BBQs and the Suttons Beach playground make this the easy day-trip swim when you want sand and a playground in the same stop.

🚗 Driving: Suttons Beach sits just south of the Redcliffe Jetty, about 40 minutes north of Brisbane CBD via the Houghton Highway Bridge. Follow Anzac Avenue and turn right onto Marine Parade, where the beach and parklands stretch along the foreshore.
🚍 Public Transport: Take the train to Kippa-Ring Station, then bus Route 690 or 694 to Marine Parade — a short walk from the beach.
🅿️ Main car park — enter from Macdonnell Road onto Marine Parade. This is Suttons Beach parking, not the lagoon park.
⏰ Weekends fill early — school holidays and Sunday mornings are the tightest.

Nearby Off-Leash Alternative: If you want a designated spot where your dog can run and swim on the sand, head nearby to the Clontarf Dog Beach / Artemis Dog Beach Strip located off Hornibrook Esplanade in Clontarf (about a 10-minute drive south)
Is Suttons Beach patrolled and safe for swimming?
YYes. Redcliffe Peninsula SLSC patrols the northern end of Suttons Beach on weekends and public holidays from September to May. Swim between the flags when they are up. The bay is usually calm, but it is still a real beach.

Suttons Beach Park offers electric BBQs, picnic shelters, a playground, accessible toilets, beach showers, fitness equipment, seating, rubbish bins and accessible beach access matting.
Is there parking at Suttons Beach?
The main Suttons Beach parking area is the foreshore car park reached from Macdonnell Road onto Marine Parade, behind the park and pavilion zone. Do not use the Settlement Cove / SLSC car park off the Anzac Avenue roundabout. That park is for Redcliffe Beach and the lagoon. Weekends and school holidays fill early.

Approximately 35–40 minutes’ drive (around 40 km) north of Brisbane CBD via the Gateway Motorway and Redcliffe Peninsula.

Yes. It is the closest patrolled bay beach to Brisbane with a fenced playground, free parking, showers, BBQs and gentle water. Allow about 40 minutes from the CBD via the Gateway Motorway and Anzac Avenue.
Is the Suttons Beach Pavilion open?
Construction on the new Suttons Beach Pavilion started 27 February 2026. Council timing is mid-2027, weather permitting. Expect a works zone around the old pavilion / rotunda. The beach, park, playground and main car park pattern still operate, but always check the City of Moreton Bay project page before you go.
